In the middle of the plant

Our 100% pure and natural Damask rose absolute is obtained from rosa damascene, commonly called Damask rose. With power and grace, Rosa damascena, commonly called the Damask rose as a nod to its Syrian origins, speaks a universal olfactory language. These sweet-smelling, tender pink flowers bloom from late May to late June, just once a year. They are carefully hand-picked at dawn and distilled or extracted when fresh. The Damask rose, at once stylish and elegant, is the quintessence of femininity.

Native to Syria, the Damask rose was first cultivated by the Persians and brought to Europe by the Crusaders. It is to the Arabs that we owe the spread this exquisite perfume plant. Initially introduced in Morocco’s Dades Valley, the Damask rose then appeared in Bulgaria, where cultivation of the flower began in the 17th century. It was not until around 1894 that it was transported from Bulgaria to Turkey under the name Kazanlik rose. Currently, these three countries are the main producers of Damask rose for use in perfumery.
