Our added value

For more than 10 years we have been working with our partner collector-transformer located near our production site in Seville. We source our labdanum gum directly from our partner and then transform it into absolute in our facilities. Thanks to its expertise in the cistus industry, our teams regularly visit the site to share our know-how as a processor and collector.

Clear labdanum absolute blends perfectly with woody and amber notes. It rounds out chypres and orientals and gives them body. Its leathery facets are often combined with certain opulent flowers to give them an amber note.

Cistus ladaniferus is a shrub that produces large quantities of a thick sap called labdanum. The plant blooms from April to June, bearing large, shortlived white flowers with purple macules. As the flowering season ends, between May and June, new twigs appear on the plant and the secretory hairs of these young twigs begin to secrete the gum.

The vast expanses of cistus are mainly located in the hills of Spain’s Sierra Norte Natural Park, officially registered by UNESCO in 2002 as being in the Las Dehesas de Sierra Morena biosphere reserve. Cistus twigs are manually harvested with sickles.
